We took a road trip from Birmingham Alabama, down into New Orleans Louisiana crossing the Mississippi along the way. Straight long roads. Thank goodness for cruise control.
New Orleans was a fabulous town to wander around, taking the trolley buses and sampling the food. We had ribs, slaw and cornbread, fried chicken waffles and fabulous gelato. Bourbon street was too loud and drunk (full of hens/stag parties and 20 somethings drinking mystery green drinks and vomiting on the street). but the streets next door had lovely architecture and great street theatre. On our second night the African American museum across the street from us held a weeding reception and the whole wedding party and New Orleans brass band erupted onto the street to dance and parade for a couple of hours before all heading home.
Tessa: New Orleans is a very diverse city; it has Bourbon street – devoted to alcohol and extremely loud music, the rest of the French quarter – nice shops and markets, and the residential area – punctuated with Halloween houses. One of my favourite things was the gelato as it came in the shape of a rose. We mainly did window shopping all over town. We liked the hot sauce shop where you had to sign a waiver to sample the sauces!

Elise – New Orleans had a variety of things on offer. We walked down Bourbon street (at night and during the day) which had lots of loud music, bars and neon signs. We visited the French market, walked down the bank of the Mississippi river and took trolley buses all over town. I also liked looking at the houses preparing for halloween, they were especially creepy at night!!!!!!!! (you should have seen the puns “Beauty and D’Ceased” Hilarious) 🙂

Adam: New Orleans was a very mixed city, the food was great (Mum and I had fried chicken waffles for breakfast-basically fried chicken on a waffle with maple syrup) and the atmosphere was amazing. We did many things including walking down Bourbon street where we heard some great music, I really enjoyed a jazz band that is in the photographs. The gator products were on display in the French Market. We also travelled on trolley buses and had gelato on the main street. We also went to the more residential area and looked at some scary halloween houses.

Sonja: I really was tempted by the Trump voodoo dolls!
