England – York

Elise – York was a lovely quaint town with lots of old buildings and higgelty-piggelty houses. We enjoyed lots of things in York including Jorvik viking centre and the chocolate mystery trail as well as walking around the city walls. I especially liked the Shambles market and the street itself which had 3 Harry Potter stores on it.

Adam: Old York was a lovely small town. I liked all the sweet shops and fudge shops. We did a chocolate treasure trail that took us walking all over the city. The city walls were quite fun to walk along as we got a view of the old city inside and the new city outside. The Shambles was busy and exciting and I found a golden snitch in the Shop which must not be Named.

Tessa: I loved York as it was so unique and charismatic. It had so much history written into the houses and streets. The Shambles was a narrow street with lopsided shops crammed in together. People say it is the real-life inspiration for Diagon alley so I enjoyed buying presents from the Harry Potter shops there. The chocolate trail we did was fun, I found out so much about chocolate in York. We went to Jorvik, the viking museum. there was the ruins of a house and a model of the city as it would have been in Viking times. It was surprising that the street level was so much lower than today.
