Next stop was Chamonix. It was a mammoth travelling day to get there- two trains and two buses. We just got into the apartment before the rain started, and there was a most stunning thunder and lightening storm that night. However the weather cleared so we could have some amazing mountain views and tramps.

Elise – Chamonix was a nice place to stay in. As its surrounded by mountains you can be sure we did plenty of stunning walks up them. The cable cars and gondolas gave us amazing views, (though I’m sure Oma would have been scared to death). My favourite activity was the Via Ferrata, a climbing activity where you are clipped to an iron cable and roped together and you have to climb around a course. It was soooooo much fun!!!

Adam – Chamonix was a very nice place to stay and and it was surrounded by lots of mountains including the tallest mountain in Europe, Mt Blanc. We did lots of activities including walks, shopping, Via Ferrata (See Elise’s post for explanation) and cable cars/gondolas. On one of our walks, we visited a lovely lake by scrambling down a rock slide and boulder hopping. The first ascent of Mt Blanc was in 1786- I learnt that on the fact boards on Le Brevent.

Tessa- I enjoyed staying in Chamonix as it had breath-taking views and lots of stuff to do. We visited the Mer de Glace after taking a cable car up to Aguille de Midi and seeing the beautiful reality of Mont Blanc. We even went inside the Glacier, in a cave made every summer full of information and ice sculptures. I learnt that the ice in the Glacier cave was created in 1785.

Beautiful photos, great spot.
Not sure about the climbing activity. Looks terrifying
