We moved on from Venice via a fast train to Florence. A beautiful city with amazing sunsets and ice cream. Our apartment was right next to the Arno river very close to the Ponte Vecchio so we were perfectly situated to explore the city.
Elise – Florence was a very nice city to stay in. I liked every bit but especially the amazing gelato shop Gelateria Dei Neri, that did great slushies as well as gelatos. I liked visiting both the Uffizi with The Birth of Venus and Primavera as well as the Da’ Vinci museum with all its interactive experiences. But my favourite bit would have to be Climbing the Duomo, the tallest building in Florence. The views were spectacular!! overall the city was lovely, and the 3 days were well spent.

Adam: Florence is one of my favourite cities so far because of the amazing Duomo. The Uffizzi gallery and the DaVinci museum were very interesting. I like the Da Vinci museum because you could fiddle around with things. The Uffizzi had lots of famous paintings. Everything looks better at night in Florence too.

Tessa: I thought Firenze/ Florence was also pretty with it’s tall buildings and narrow streets. I loved the Gelateria Dei Neri’s Gelato and all the diverse things we did. Climbing Giotto’s Campanile and the Duomo showed you the full extent of Florence and allowed for amazing pictures. The Uffizi and the Da Vinci museum gave a peek into the past of Italy. The Birth of Venus is really stunning and the some ideas of Da Vinci are still being used today.
Mark: by way of explanation, the Da Vinci museum was this tiny museum which had a lot of machines that Da Vinci had designed, or drawn. You got to see how they worked. It was really interesting because there were a whole lot of quite common things that he designed or improved upon that I had no idea were related to him. After visiting the museum, you can understand why he is considered a genius, whereas if you just look at his 13 paintings, he seems a bit overrated…
