We visited Edinburgh for Mum to visit Royal Children’s and for Dad to catch up with a colleague. We did manage to sneak in some site-seeing with the children too.

Tessa – I really enjoyed staying in Edinburgh as it felt like you could reach out and touch the past while being modern. The real Mary King’s close was a interesting experience and I learnt a lot about what life was like for people in those times, not just in Edinburgh. The houses in that time could be 10 – 12 storey high! They would lean on each other to stay up. The streets in that time were very narrow, the second biggest just being 2-3m wide, yet they still had stalls attached to the walls in them! The Harry Potter escape room was the department of mysteries and well, it being Harry Potter, speaks for itself. It was really good!!!!
Adam: We went to the real Mary King’s Close- the old part of Edinburgh under the current city of Edinburgh. We walked up Carlton hill and played around on the monuments there. In the afternoon we went to a Harry Potter escape room and afterward celebrated with magic potion mocktails (apart from Mummy’s)
Elise – Edinburgh was a very busy city with lots and lots of people walking around. We did a few things including the Harry Potter themed escape room and a tour of the Real Mary Kings Close as well as a visit to the oldest building in Edinburgh. We also walked up the Royal mile and visited the castle. My favourite part was the Harry Potter escape room for sure, though making potions was a close second.
