Singapore Stopover

Singapore was hot and humid which did not mix well with jet lag. However we did manage to get out and about in between cooling off at the hotel pool.

Our hotel and the pool we hung out in.

China Town

Elise: Singapore is made up of many different cultures like Indian or Malay but mainly Chinese decent (76.2%) and they mainly settled in one area: the Chinese area we now know as Chinatown. We saw some amazing temples and busy markets. We ate lunch at a hawkers market, we had Chicken Rice and fresh fruit juice. See the photos below.

Gardens by the Bay.

Sonja and Tessa: These are gardens filled with beautiful tree structures that have plants grown up the sides and at night they are lit up by lots of lights. There were also domes with stunning walks and plants inside. We were also astounded by the Marina Sands Bay hotel. Dad said he didn’t want to be on the end a few hundred metres in the air with nothing underneath! There didn’t seem to be much holding up the boat-like structure at the top.

The Singapore Zoo Night Safari.

Tessa: This was way out of Singapore, almost at the border of Malaysia. They have a train ride around multiple animals in open enclosures and then you can go walking through the zoo as well. Unfortunately the queue for the train was over 1 hour so we were all pretty annoyed by the time we got to see some animals. There was a little creature encounter show where a white Racoon , a Serval and some Otters did some tricks and we saw two Owls, and a really long Python as well.
